Whales first breath with dolphins glass sculpture

With instincts as old as time, the mother whale tenderly guides the newborn calf from the ocean depths to the surface. There the calf receives its life sustaining first breath. One of the many dangers facing the humpback whale while birthing is the presence of predatory sharks, known to attack highly vulnerable newborn calves. With natural instincts, the bottlenose dolphins have been known to seek out and even attack these vicious predators of the deep to protect the baby calves. We have created this sculpture to demonstrate the natural harmony that these two mammals have.

This listing is for a custom made first breath sculpture. With a mother whale and her calf, 6 dolphins surround them. Each piece is made to order by Sean Price from borosilicate (Pyrex) glass. Sean hand sculpts each piece in the flame using no molds, making each piece one of a kind. Because it is handmade each unique piece will vary in shape, color, and size. The three photos show examples of how it can vary.

All the glass is made with clear glass. The mother whale is sand blasted giving it a frosted look. This is a classic piece with no added color. The contrast of the frosted whale and the pure and shiny baby and dolphins gives this piece a nice affect.

The finished product is based on sand coral collected on the beaches of Maui (each also one of a kind). The sand coral is painted to replicate the look of black Hawaiian lava. Sean uses his skills and creativity to base the piece in a way that flows together with the glass and the size and shape of the base.

Keep in mind... All bases will vary as they are organically made by nature, no base is ever the same. All glass pieces will vary as mentioned above. No two pieces will be the same. What you see in the above pictures is not exactly how your custom piece will be.

Please allow 6-10 weeks for completion. Once the piece is complete we will send you digital photos with dimensions to approve. Once approved, we will ship. All glass is guaranteed in travel. If it is damaged in shipping we will repair or replace the damaged piece for free.
